Blog Party: Still breathing…

Taken from Blog Party - a project on the side I do with my fellow blogger and friend @koolhuntingdk.

"It´s time for a recap. As some of you might have noticed, we didn’t make it for the end of August, the date we were striving for as the major Blog Party kick off. We met up with all kinds of good people to be inspired and to talk, among them Mindjumpers and Aiaiai. And we teamed up with Det Kongelige Teater about the making of a potential partnership, where we would help them, and they would fund us with a location for one damn night. That’s all we need… We created our blog, the different social media profiles, and gave birth to them, shot video, had photo shoots, put stickers, and posters in CPH - and did everything to spread the word about the first Danish Blog Party. We have digital mindsets, a shared passion, but realized that without economy it´s difficult to complete our beloved Blog Party. When we look back on this – we could have done things differently. But we needed so desperately a location – and without any money (just the love for the Internet) – it is difficult. Our ambitions are not damaged – and we strive to get this thing up and running. We believe in it. To get sufficient funds we have changed strategy. We are planning to do seminars about social media. Maybe we can make some money on this – and get this first Blog Party in Denmark to become reality. Will keep you updated. We are still breathing!"

World´s first internet balloon race

As i posted earlier this week I´m focusing on how blogging can be incorporated in a commercial context. Another great example of this is play balloonacy - Orange´s celebration of Orange’s Animals packages to their Pay As You Go customers. Balloons will fly across a range of sites, picking up speed & distance bonuses as they fly. They can also pick up tokens for entry in to free prize draws. There are already a bunch of sites signed up to support the race, including The Sun and Yahoo, and now I`ve signed up as well and added the widget. It will be interesting to follow, whether this actually increase traffic to my site.

The motive for participating and adding the widget is to get my site in front of an audience of 16-24 year olds, the TG from Orange´s own perspective.

The race starts 23rd of june and ends 30 of june.

Blogging and commercialization

I´m back! Been fully dedicated to work and haven´t had the time to feed my baby - my personal online tamagotchi.

Everybody is talking about blogging and the missing link to commercialization. I know there exist many different types of blogs: personal blogs, corporate blogs, vlog, moblog etc. and they all have different purposes of existence. However, what I find of extreme interest is how a company can use blogging to build a brand - and generate added value for both for the company and the bloggers.

The Swedish fashion retailer lindex.se is an awesome example of this. The company has already created an affiliate program for fashion bloggers that makes it easy for bloggers to link to individual garments via a "blog this" button (see below).

The button simply gives bloggers a code that you copy and then you are able to put it into your own personal blog. I´ve copied the code of the red pants and here they are... a genius and simple way of creating value for both the company and the blogger!

Lindex Shop Online - Jeans

Besides, lindex has teamed up with twingly, a Swedish-based company who´s service shows which blogs that link to a specific page. Simply put, not only does lindex use blogs to drive traffic to their web shop, they also send back traffic to bloggers by showing links to their blog posts (shown in the product category on lindex Online Shop), which most likely will encourage more fashion bloggers to link to lindex.se.
For the Nordic people see below.

I definitely think they are on the forefront of using blogging in a commercial context.
In the coming week I will focus on blogging and further investigate the topic of commercialization and blogging. More to come...

Beck´s goes blogging

You live by the blog. You have a way with words that hold people captive. And you don't shy away from being in the public eye. Then Beck´s want you. Give your two cents worth, and we'll give you a handsome salary and other bright perks. Your name and blogs will be seen by many around the world. Others have 365 days, you have 365 entries in a year. You get to work with Beck's and a congenial creative team in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. You might even relocate to a greener pasture. Sounds too good to be true? live by the blog.

Interesting point is that they are not looking for a corporate blogger, but a person that will give a personal view on news, people and ideas that match the brands philosophy 'Different by Choice'.

We are what we share!

Having a blog is like having a baby you need to feed all the time...

Why are we actually sharing, and why do I bother using hours maintaining my blog? Maybe recognition! But more important I share because I´m forced to be up to date with present and future rock`n`roll.

I found this amazing video on punk planning

Simple animation and great thoughts!
